The 36th annual quilt show will be on display from April 4th to May 27th.
This year’s theme is Sampler Quilts. A sampler quilt is comprised of different block patterns that are generally non-repeating.
These beautiful quilts first became popular in the mid-1800s. This new style of quilt allowed a quilter to use more scrap pieces of fabric and provided more variety from the traditional quilt that was based on a medallion pattern.
If you have questions about the exhibit or would like to display your Sampler Quilt, please contact Martha Warble, 317-398-6931. Quilts may be dropped off at the museum beginning March 20th.
In conjunction with the quilt show, the museum will also be hosting the annual Quilt Luncheon.
The lunch will be held May 10th at 11 a.m. The theme for the lunch is Indiana Amish Quilters. Mary Jane Teeters-Eichacker from the Indiana State museum will give a presentation.
To RSVP to the luncheon, contact the museum by April 29th.
