The Shelby County Historical Society is hosting the annual Spring Dinner at Grover Museum on Thursday, April 19, beginning at 6 p.m.

Tamara Hemmerlein, the director of Local History Services for the Indiana Historical Society and this year’s guest speaker, is presenting “Preserving Your Family History: Caring for Heirlooms, Documents and Photographs.”

Throughout the presentation, Hemmerlein will show the audience the simple steps they can take to properly care for family heirlooms, documents and photos by using examples from IHS and Grover Museum. Part of those steps will include how to clean, store and display those family artifacts. Following the presentation, attendees can stay and ask Hemmerlein any questions they may have.

The Spring Dinner will be held in the downstairs of the museum, and visitors will have the opportunity to see Shelby County historical artifacts from the last 200 years, including a focused display on St. Joseph Catholic Church, which is celebrating 150 years. .

Guests will also have the opportunity to visit the museum’s exhibits, including a display on Roger Slifer, a Morristown native, who worked for Marvel and DC Comics, as well as a producer for Sunbow Productions, in the Jack and Martha Warble Gallery.

A spaghetti dinner will provided by the SCHS Board of Directors.

Tickets can be purchased at the museum office, or reservations can be by telephone, at 317-392-4634. Members can pick up tickets for $12, and non-members for $15.
